Writing Diary – 14.08.2025

Hello, and thanks for reaching this journey. In case you missed the Day #1 post, about starting the writing progress for the debut novel. If you didn’t already read the first day about starting this journey, read it here first.

Anyway, we started planning and structuring the story and plot. We both had good, creative ideas which we then discussed, while also drinking some red wine.

About the genre and book we are planning to write, it will be a psychological thriller with a horror aspect without direct physical violence. A story told from the main character’s perspective, exploring their growing sense of dread. She has everything fine in her life, until shit hits the fan. A strange feeling of doomsday without a rational reason is growing in her mind.

To not give too many spoilers of the project, all I can say is that there will be a mysterious, desperate atmosphere where the reader can feel the mental torment from the POV of the main character.

Below a sample what the style our upcoming book’s haunting athmosphere might feel like:

Personally, I love to write these kinds of stories, so I am really interested in this project. Like the horror story about those haunting, disappearing Eyes, read the short sample below, which is what our style for the book would be like.

Quote from the Campfire Horror Stories when Okar, the Wizard is explaining how dangerous the Eyes are:

“Ah, yes… Of course…” the Wizard murmured, scratching his beard thoughtfully. He was no longer as frightened as before. His voice grew deeper, somber, and serious.

“Greben, the village by the edge of the enchanted forest. It was there that the fiend unleashed its terror…” He continued, “Both I and many others from that time had reported seeing those Eyes. Folk tales throughout the centuries have told that those Eyes disappeared when someone brave enough approached within a near enough distance… But during that dark autumn, there was one time when they didn’t vanish.”
Nbrezor’s attention shifted back immediately after Okar’s speech, and the huge Hunter stopped looking for his axe.

“In that village lived a beautiful woman, who loved going for long walks in the forests. Her husband was a skilled hunter, perhaps the smartest among the influential figures in the community of that small village.”

“But back to his young, beautiful wife. One damp autumn day, she was gathering mushrooms in the nearby woods. Suddenly, a torrential downpour caught her off guard, forcing her to take shelter under a large tree. That’s when she felt it—the sensation of being watched. But by whom? And why? She glanced around nervously until, in the swampy thicket, she spotted the two large, glowing eyes. She froze in terror, her fear so overwhelming that her legs gave way, leaving her paralyzed and unable to move…”

But back to the project, we did write a small sketch and a kind of timeline of how the mental torment is slowly growing and the stakes are going higher.

Below is one of our illustrations of a possible storyline:

But there will be a lot more revisions, and as Veronika has such a great imagination, this story will be epic for the fans of stories, making them feel a growing tension and paranoia.
